A day discovering the most characteristic features of the local life in a remote area of the Menai Bay. After reaching Mungoni, we will cross by dhow, the traditional vessel, the stretch of sea which divides the west coast of the Unguja island from the Uzi Ng’ambwa beach. From there, we will move by foot through the village all the way to the nursery school, where guests will have the opportunity to know better the Why association’s educational projects.
In the afternoon, we will go hiking for about one and a half hour. The route crosses the whole island and it develops along a very characteristic way, which is walkable only at low tide and is inside a mangrove forest. The final destination is the Unguja Ukuu village, from where the return trip to Jambiani by car is planned to start. Considering the influence of the movements of the tides, the track could be travelled the other way around.
